Welcome Message

         

 The International Conference on Slope 2010 will be held in Chiang Mai , Thailand from 28th to 30th of July, 2010. It is organized by the Department of Highways, Thailand (DOH), Roads Association of Thailand (RATH), Thai Geotechnical Society (TGS), and International Geosynthetics Society of Thailand (IGS) in collaboration with the Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM) and Public Works Department , Malaysia (JKR). This is the third of its series, after the first in 2006 and the second in 2008 have been successfully held in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia .

       The theme of the conference is “Geotechnique and Geosynthetics for Slopes”. The conference is intended:

(1) to encourage researchers and practitioners around the world to share and exchange their knowledge, experience, and advancement,

(2) to develop joint networks in the area of slope engineering , and

(3) to promote collaborations among organizations, researchers, and practitioners around the world.

       The technical session will be allocated for two-day period without parallel session and one-day technical site visit to highway slope failure. Four keynote lectures will be delivered by

Professors Tuncer Edil, Dr.Suzanne Lacasse, Professor Dov Levchinsky, and Professor Robert Liang.

In addition, six special lectures will be given by local and international experts from Thailand , Japan , Indonesia , and Malaysia .

          Chiangmai is the largest and most culturally significant city in northern Thailand . It is located north of Bangkok , among some of the highest mountains in the country. In recent years, Chiang Mai has become an increasingly modern city. It has several attractions including cultural sites, nature, nightlife, shopping, massage, and cookery etc. for the approximately 1 million visitors who come each year.
